Contrary to popular belief, Congress is aware of the POW-MIA Issue.
Over the years there have been countless Hearings, Committees and Subcommittees... whether or not one thinks anything of substance came as a result or that Congress acted on the information gleaned from any of the Hearings is, and always will be, debatable.

Many were and are heartfelt attempts to find out "what happened" and what, if anything, could be done to remedy the situation. Many were half-hearted efforts to quiet clamoring constituents and family members and to "be on the record" as having done something about the issue. Many, sadly, were nothing more than legitimatized Dog and Pony Shows.

One of the most important aspects of all the Hearings is that they offered a vast spectrum of people to put their thoughts, experiences and ideas "on the record." Family members were able to express their frustrations, fears and disillusionment with the accounting process and those vested with the responsibility of finding the truth. USG officials were able to present their own frustrations with adversarial nations, the complexities of chasing a man through decades and across borders, jungles, oceans, mountains and deserts. There were the apologists, who explained away every difficulty and damnation. The debunkers who dismissed every picture, live sighting and report that dared to indicate if not outright identify unrepatriated POWs. The historians and researchers who tracked papers and people, sifting through miles of of documents in multiple languages. Hard working analysts, well-meaning acivists and veterans who would move heaven and earth to bring a buddy home. All of them are represented in the vast, historical paper chase that has been created. And they themselves have become a part of the issue history.

Whatever one's perspective on any of the Hearings over the past 30 years, the greatest problem has always been follow-up. Even when exceptional material was finally brought to light, documents wrested from the tight grip of National Security, witnesses finally coming forward, once the Hearings had concluded and the Report written, nothing more seemed to come of so much of what was presented.

It is impossible to present every Report, every transcript, every statement or deposition on the issue. The materials presented here are the most requested, some of the more salient, and show the broad spectrum of secondary issues we have encountered over the years while continuously coming back to the two most imporatnt questions... What Happened and Where Is He?
