National League of Families Votes
NO CONFIDENCE in Jennings

17 February, 2005

As posted in their League Update, The National League of Families of American Prisoners and Missing in Southeast Asia has voted NO CONFIDENCE in DASD Jerry Jennings and seeks his removal. Statement Follows.

"LEAGUE SEEKS REMOVAL OF DASD JENNINGS: It is with great disappointment and sadness that On February 14th the League's Board of Directors concluded its unanimous vote of NO CONFIDENCE in DASD Jerry Jennings in his capacity as DASD for POW/MIA Affairs, as Director of DPMO or as US Chairman of the US-Russia Commission on POW/MIA Affairs. For the purpose of this League Update, it is sufficient and accurate to say that the League Board deeply regrets the need for this action. All board members are astounded that the optimism felt when DASD Jennings was selected could be so completely shattered in the last 12-18 months. The reasons will be spelled out fully in the upcoming League Newsletter.

We learned late yesterday that the Board of Directors of Korean-Cold War Families of the Missing, Inc. took a similar on February 16th, recording "a vote of NO CONFIDENCE in DASD Jerry Jennings as head of DPMO and Chairman of the USRJC." It is also their intention to convey their position to the leadership of the Department of Defense. It is the League's sincere hope that DPMO, as an organization, can be restructured into the viable organization that most objective observers believe is possible due to the caliber of personnel available both inside and outside the Department of Defense."
