Former Iraq POW Says Wichita Area Soldier Was Hero

Former Iraq prisoner of war Shoshana Johnson says a Wichita area soldier has not gotten enough credit for saving her life when she was captured during an ambush.
Johnson spent 22 days as a POW after she was shot in both ankles in 2003. She says Private First Class Patrick Miller of Park City helped fend off their attackers for a short time after the skirmish started. And she says he helped keep up morale while they were in captivity.
Johnson spoke to about 100 people yesterday at John Carroll University in Cleveland. The El Paso, Texas, native called Miller "the true hero.'' Nine men were killed in the battle.
Johnson said Miller was the first one out of the vehicle when the convoy was attacked.
She also recalled Miller loudly singing a rowdy Toby Keith song while the soldiers were imprisoned.
