Miquiel Banks is keloid-prone, a medical condition privy to African-Americans and other minorities, and cannot shave. When the 1st Infantry Division in Fort Riley, Kansas goes on alert, everything boils down to one question - Can Banks seal a mask with a beard?

Then, the Pentagon issues a directive that if a soldier cannot seal a gas mask, he/she cannot deploy to Saudi.

Banks is sent to be tested by the Rock Island Team (the military experts) and their decision is final. Banks cannot seal a gas mask and this begins his journey to find God.

The next few days pushes Banks to a crossroads because for some mysterious reason, his paperwork from the Rock Island Team is missing. Without this paperwork, Banks will be forced to go to Desert Storm. . .condemning himself to imminent death.

He writes to his congressman in Georgia for guidance and he gets no response. He goes to JAG for assistance, no help. What will he do?
