"First
Coast Marks Anniversary Of Speicher Disappearance
By First Coast News Staff
JACKSONVILLE, FL -- The First Coast is looking back today, remembering a local
Navy pilot shot down in Iraq thirteen years ago this weekend.
Meanwhile, rescue crews are still looking forward, searching throughout Iraq
for Captain Scott Speicher.
Speicher's F-18 was shot down on the first night of the Gulf War in 1991.
Some local community members are planning to travel to Washington, D.C. this
weekend to commemorate the anniversary of Speicher's disappearance.
Organizers will hold a special candlelight vigil there for Speicher on Saturday
night.
