"Maupin's Father Speaks Publicly For First Time
Soldier's Dad 'Hopeful' Son Will Be Home Soon
CINCINNATI -- The father of a Tri-State soldier being held in Iraq spoke publicly for the first time Monday.
Spc. Matt Maupin has been missing since his convoy was ambushed in April, WLWT Eyewitness News 5 reported. A week later, a videotape surfaced that showed Maupin being held by armed Iraqi insurgents.
Maupin's parents spoke during the Taste of Cincinnati downtown.
"Though it's been some time we have heard from Matt, we are hopeful that he will be home soon," Keith Maupin said.
Keith Maupin said aside from taking a moment to remember our servicemen and women, we should teach our children about the importance of the sacrifices they make.
Stay tuned to WLWT Eyewitness News 5 and ChannelCincinnati.com for updates on the Maupin story as soon as new information becomes available.
