Ha Noi, May 28 (VNA) - Two boxes of remains and memorabilia relating to pilots who died in action in Viet Nam were delivered to the US side at the Noi Bai Airport on Friday in the presence of officials from the two sides.
One box contained remains and memorabilia of two pilots listed as missing in a plane crash in Quang Binh province and the other belonged to two other pilots whose plane was thought to have crashed in Quang Tri province.
These remains and memorabilia, found in a joint search between the two sides, the 77th of its kind so far, in April and May, will be transported to Hawaii for further forensic identification.
At a ceremony to mark this event, representatives of the US government expressed thanks to the Vietnamese Government and people for their effective cooperation while praising their humanitarian policy.
This was the 93rd repatriation of remains of US servicemen listed as missing in action in Viet Nam, bringing the total of repatriated sets of remains to 822 since 1973.
