Tries To Protect Possible Site Of Revolutionary War Prison Camp
YORK, Pa. -- A preservation group is appealing plans to build a road on what
members believe is the site of a Revolutionary War prison camp.
The Friends of Camp Security are appealing a decision by the Windsor Township
supervisors to approve the pending road plan.
Developer Tim Pasch wants to extend Beaverton Road by 150 feet to the Springettsbury
Township line.
Lawyer Hershel Richman said the preservation group's position is that the supervisors
shouldn't approve any development until the archaeological study is completed
as required by the Department of Environmental Protection.
Pasch has been trying for several years to build 100 houses on a 65-acre site
that some say may be the last undisturbed site of a Revolutionary War prisoner-of-war
camp in the nation.
Neither Pasch nor his attorneys could be reached Monday for comment.
