BATAVIA - Keith M. Maupin, an Army reservist from Batavia serving in Iraq, has been has been missing in action since Friday, the U.S. Department of Defense said Monday.

Maupin, 21, and another soldier from Greensboro, N.C., are unaccounted for since their convoy came under attack by individuals using rocket-propelled grenades and small arms, the Defense Department said. Both soldiers were assigned to the Army Reserve's 724th Transportation Company, Brookville, Ill.

Maupin's mother, Carolyn Maupin of Willowville in Clermont County, said late Monday she had been notified her son was missing in a visit from Army representatives. She is a member oft the Clermont County Military Support Group, which has organized a "care package" and letter-writing campaign in support of soldiers in Iraq.
