BATAVIA - Keith M. Maupin, an Army reservist from Batavia serving in Iraq, has
been has been missing in action since Friday, the U.S. Department of Defense
said Monday.
Maupin, 21, and another soldier from Greensboro, N.C., are unaccounted for since
their convoy came under attack by individuals using rocket-propelled grenades
and small arms, the Defense Department said. Both soldiers were assigned to
the Army Reserve's 724th Transportation Company, Brookville, Ill.
Maupin's mother, Carolyn Maupin of Willowville in Clermont County, said late
Monday she had been notified her son was missing in a visit from Army representatives.
She is a member oft the Clermont County Military Support Group, which has organized
a "care package" and letter-writing campaign in support of soldiers
in Iraq.
