Thousands Participate in World War II Memorial
Over 3,000 people marched in Sunday's Bataan Death March at White Sands Missile
Range.
Sunday, March 21, 2004 -- The marathon is an annual event that remembers the
troops who were captured by the Japanese in 1942.
They were marched over 100 miles to a prisoner of war camp.
Participants marched 26.2 miles. Some had family members who were POWs in World
War II.
Organizers say the marathon commemorates not only those who fought World War
II, but also all the men and women in uniform.
