teams search for American servicemen missing in war
March 9th, 2004 By Associated Press
(Honolulu-AP) -- U-S military teams from Hawaii are in Australia to search for
American servicemen missing since World War Two.
The recovery team from the Joint P-O-W/M-I-A Account Command left Honolulu last
weekend and are focusing on two aircraft crash sites in Australia and Papua
New Guinea, where a total of 12 Americans went missing.
In Australia, the team will attempt to recover the remains of a missing pilot
of a P-40 that crashed during a test flight about 30 miles northeast of Melbourne.
Upon completion of their efforts in Australia, they will travel to Papua New
Guinea to work on a B-24 crash site 100 miles of Port Moresby, where eleven
Americans are missing.
There are nearly 90-thousand U-S servicemen still unaccounted for since World
War Two. "
