It is Memorial Day 2003 and there is another generation of young men and women who have gone forth
from our shores, and sadly, many have lost their lives. Bright, beautiful, bold and brave Americans
who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the name of Freedom.

We are reminded of the millions before them who have laid down their lives
for Liberty, Freedom and Equality.

We are reminded of those who met their end in a moment of extraordinary bravery
and of those who were simply in the wrong place at the wrong time.

They have died for the flag... for the right to burn the flag

They have died for liberty... died as Prisoners of War deprived of liberty

They have died for dignity, duty and honor... died in ravines, mud and swamps

They have died for the Constitution... in lands that had no constitution

They have died for freedom... in countries that had never been free

They have died while giving thanks to the great nation from which they came...
died for a nation that frequently forgot how to say thanks

It is Memorial Day 2003 and there is another generation of Gold Star Mothers... and Fathers.
Of Widows, Widowers and Orphans. Another generation of sorrow.

Yet, the bright, beautiful, bold and brave light that shone forth from each and every one,
lives on. It lives on in the insigificant daily acts of speaking our own minds,
writing our thoughts, gathering without fear, praying without peril.

It is called Freedom. And its very spirit, its very soul is made up of the
uncountable names and faces of those who walked into the valley of the shadow of death
and are reborn every time one of us utters whatever absurd notion is on our minds.
They live in every Freedom, Privilege and every Right we enjoy without fear.

Yes, through us, they live.
It is our duty, our obligation to live our lives as fully and as freely as possible,
because we are not living it for ourselves alone.
We live it in honor of and with our deepest gratitude for the
magnificent gift we have been given.

For those who cannot enjoy the full and free life each of us wants,
who among us will stand in their place.

POW-MIA You Are Not Forgotten

Andi & Bob
AII POW-MIA

In honor of the men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice, AII POW-MIA will, as is our tradition, black out the archives until the Memorial Day remembrances and ceremonies end Friday evening, May 30th.

Please take a moment to remember and honor these selfless Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, Coast Guardsmen, Merchant Mariners, Reservists, National Guardsmen and Marines, say a prayer for their families, and thank them all for the magnificent gift we live each and every day... Freedom.

May God bless all of our Prisoners and Missing and those who wait.
