""2003...Let's set them Free"
Our scheduled guests on POW/MIA Radio for Sunday, August 31, 2003 are:
3:00pm Mtn - News and Views. An hour of the latest POW/MIA and veterans issues.
4:00pm Mtn - Mr. Bert Schlossberg and Mr. Ben Torrey. On September 1, 1983, 30 years ago as we go to the air, a drama was unfolding that turned into an international incident at the height of the Cold War. Korean Air Lines Flight 007 was headed to Seoul, Korea from the United States, carrying 269 passengers and crew. KAL007 also carried congressman Lawrence McDonald (D), from Georgia. After straying from its course, it was shot down by a Soviet jet fighter that was launched to destroy it. According to published accounts at the time, the plane fell into the ocean and all aboard were killed. However, the evidence uncovered since presents a amazingly different story. Bert Schlossberg, International Director of the Committee for the Rescue of KAL 007 Survivors and author of "Rescue 007, The Untold Story of KAL007 and its Survivors, presents evidence that not only did the plane land safely but surviving passengers and crew were rescued by the Russians and then fed into the infamous Gulag. Ben Torrey is the U.S. Director for the Internaltional Committee and together they are working to uncover and disseminate the truth about the KAL007 incident and to effect the rescue and return of it's survivors.
