Re: Korean War 50th Anniversary Armistice Commemoration
From: POW-MIA InterNetwork
Date: July 27, 2003
Fifty years ago today, what would come to be known as the Forgotten War, ended with an Armisitice, ceasing formal hostilties. The final toll bespeaks a brutal war waged in intense heat, frigid cold, mud, meadow and madness.
Below are the figures for the No Longer Forgotten War, as well as a number of links for information and an Events Calendar.

KOREAN WAR CEASE FIRE 50th ANNIVERSARY
New York City
On behalf of the tens of thousands of the Korean War veterans throughout New York City, we invite you to attend and honor those Korean War veterans past and present, on the 50th Anniversary of the end of that war, Sunday, July 27th, 2003 at the Korean War Monument in Battery Park. The event starts promptly at 11:00am, and will extend to 12:30pm.
Invited are United Nations dignitaries from the 22 nations that participated in the Korean War, the Mayor and City Council members, Korean War veterans, and veterans from all wars and eras, in addition to the Korean/American community of New York who owe so much to our Korean War veterans.
It was called "The Forgotten War." Through the combined efforts of the Mayors Office of Veterans Affairs, Korean War Veterans Associations throughout NYC, veterans chapters and posts, the United War Veterans Council, and members of the NYC Veterans Advisory Board, we intend to create a celebratory event those attending will never forget.
All veterans' chapters, individuals or organizations wishing to present a wreath are encouraged to do so. Please arrive a bit earlier to further coordinate the activity.
We extend to you every courtesy and look forward to your attendance.
In patriotism, Vince McGowan President UWVC
