Re: Lynch Benefits Denied

"Lynch Benefits Denied
Jessica Lynch was a prisoner of war for nine days and Anthony Principi, Secretary of Veterans Affairs, says a soldier must be a prisoner of war for at least thirty days before he or she can receive full POW benefits. Officials say despite the rules Jessica will receive all of the necessary medical treatment she needs."
NOTE: What the media has failed to report is that NONE of the Operation Iraqi Freedom former POWs meet the 30-day requirment. All 8 - 6 from the 507th and the 2 Apache WOs, were held less than 30 days and are therefore ineligible for POW benefits. However, as members of the US Armed Forces, they did, do and will receive all medical and therapeutic care needed as well as other considerations as time passes.
