"Ex-POW Joseph Hudson Re-enlists
Audra Schroeder KFOX News at Nines Weekend Anchor/Reporter
Specialist Joseph Hudson, "I Joseph Neal Hudson do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the constitution of the United States against all enemies foreign and domestic"
Specialist Joseph Hudson recites the oath of re-enlistment from Major General Stanley Green.
It's a proud moment in his military career, one that he's sharing with his fellow ex-pow's.
Specialist Hernandez, Sgt. Riley, Private First Class Miller and Specialist Johnson.
All of the former prisoners of war are back in time from their 30-day leave to congratulate their comrade.
Hudson says it's the experiences they shared as prisoners in Iraq that helped him to decide to re-enlist.
Joseph Hudson, "It's a true honor to be here in front today. I know my previous experience will help me out in the future in the army to help future soldiers I will be in charge of. That's part of the reason why I have taken this oath of re-enlistment because I know my experiences will help many others."
The decision to re-enlist was an easy one for the Army Specialist but it was a different story for his mother.
Anecita Hudson, Hudsons Mother, "He scared the hell out of us already I don't want it to happen again."
Despite her worries Anecita Hudson says she supports her son's re-enlistment.
And Major General Stanley Green who rarely conducts the oath of re-enlistment says it was an honor.
Major General Stanley Green, "It's additive when we start talking about the fact that we are re-enlisting a veteran of the most recent conflict and that much more additive when we talk about a veteran who is a prisoner of war."
Specialist Hudson is re-enlisting for two more years.
