"Remains of American MIAs repatriated
Five boxes containing the remains of American servicemen listed as missing in action (MIA) during the war in Vietnam were returned to the US Full Accounting Joint Task Force (JTF-FA) by the Vietnam Office Seeking Missing Persons (VNOSMP) in Central Da Nang City on Thursday.
The remains were found by joint Vietnamese-US teams during the 72nd and 73rd joint searches for MIAs and then went through primary tests for identification in Hanoi by forensic scientists from both countries.
Since 1973, Vietnam has over 89 separate occasions returned 805 sets of remains of American servicemen killed during the war.
Representatives of the US government thanked Vietnam for its humanitarian policy and effective cooperation in the search for American MIAs.
