"Iran to hold week-long funerals for 300 martyrs of Iraqi-imposed war

Tehran, June 22, IRNA -- Iran is to hold a week of mourning ceremonies for 300 martyrs of the eight-year Iraqi-imposed war whose remains will be arriving in Tehran on July 7.

The ceremonies will coincide with this year's commemoration of the death of Hazrat Fatemeh Zahra (AS), the daughter of Prophet Mohammad.

The national committee in charge of locating soldiers missing in action (MIAs), in a statement on Sunday, called on the people, particularly the youth, to attend the funeral ceremonies.

Since the end of the Iran-Iraq war, search teams have uncovered hundreds of remains of Iranian soldiers martyred during the war in both territories.

Iran and Iraq have, on several occasions, exchanged remains of their fallen soldiers. But the process was halted after the start of the US-led coalition war against Iraq.
