"ALLENTOWN, Pa. (AP) _ An Army Ranger killed during World War II was honored posthumously with medals and distinctions, including a Purple Heart.
Brooks P. Minchin, of Easton, was officially declared dead in April 1945, more than a year after he went missing in action while fighting in Italy. His body was never recovered.
"It sure is a proud moment for the family," said Tim Minchin, the late soldier's nephew.
The award ceremony, attended by more than a dozen of Minchin's relatives, was held Thursday in the Allentown office of U.S. Rep. Pat Toomey.
"It's a real honor for me to find closure for the Minchin family," Toomey said."
