U.S. Secretary of Defense Meets With Vietnamese Defense Minister
Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld met with Vietnamese Defense Minister Pham Van Tra today in Washington.
During the meeting, the secretary and minister discussed regional and global security issues. The meeting highlighted positive progress in the overall defense relationship between the United States and Vietnam. The secretary acknowledged the importance of the continued Vietnamese cooperation on U.S. efforts to account for missing American service personnel.
The secretary and the minister discussed ways to promote security cooperation between the two countries and to build on successes in de-mining, disaster relief, search and rescue and medical assistance."
