National POW-MIA Day ceremony


The Department of Military and Veterans Affairs will conduct a brief ceremony to mark National POW-MIA Day. The ceremony will begin at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19 and be held on the first floor of the Capitol Rotunda in Lansing.

The Department of Defense Prisoner of War/Missing Personnel Office reports the current status as 4,452 American military personnel who remain missing from WWI, 78,976 American military personnel from WWII, 8,186 American military personnel missing from the Korean War, 1,883 American military personnel remain missing from the Vietnam War and 165 American military personnel missing from the Cold War.

This includes 365 Michigan servicemen from the Korean War, 57 Michigan servicemen from the Vietnam War and four Michigan servicemen from the Cold War.
