DNA finds 6 martyrs
KUWAIT, (KUNA): Five more Kuwaitis and a Saudi were Monday declared martyrs after their remains were identified among those in the Samawa mass grave, says the official spokesman of the team charged with ascertaining the fate of Kuwaiti POWs in Iraq.
Fayez Al-Enizi told Kuna the Kuwaitis have been identified through genetic testing of their remains from the Samawa mass grave at the laboratories of the Interior Ministry's Forensics Department. The labs also identified the remains of Saudi national Fahad Aqeel Rakan Al-Dhifeiri, born in 1971 and taken prisoner by the Iraqis on Oct 24, 1990. The Kuwaitis have been identified as Taleb Amin Jasim Salih, a Defense Ministry employee born in 1966 and taken prisoner by the Iraqis on Oct 13, 1990; Fahad Slaiman Aswad Al-Enizi, a student born in 1967 and arrested on Nov 18, 1990; Hamad Mohammad Ghnaim Al-Ajmi, who was a student at the time of his arrest on Oct 19, 1990, and was born in 1969; Naser Ayedh Dheiran Al-Utaibi, who was an Interior Ministry officer born in 1971 and arrested on Oct 15, 1990 and Mesfir Mhanna Mesfir Al-Hayyani ,who was also a student at the time of his arrest on Oct 24, 1990. He was born in 1973.
This takes the total of Kuwaitis who have been crossed off the POWs list and listed as martyrs to 23. The team on June 8, identified the remains of martyr Saad Meshal Aswad Al-Enizi and then those of Ahmad Abdullah Abderrasoul Al-Qallaf on June 14. July 1 brought news of the identification of the remains of Salih Ali Saud Al-Hayyani. The remains of four POWs were identified July 8.
These remains were of Naser Hsein Umran Al-Enizi, Abdellatif Naser Hsein Al-Wheib, Mahmoud Sayyid Ridha Sayyid Hasan, and Anaam Sayyid Ismael Al-Eidan. On July 26, the team identified the remains of Fayhan Mohammad Layla Al-Mutairi and Naser Shereef Fahad Al-Khaldi and on July 29 the remains of Jasim Al-Sammak and Lebanese Daad Al-Hariri were identified.
The team also identified the remains of Saffah Ebjad Alloush Al-Mutairi and Lafi Fayhan Mohammad Layla Al-Mutairi on Aug 3. Then came news of four others on Aug 24 ?Farhan Harbi Sakit Al-Dhifeiri, Ebeid Falah Hseini Al-Mutairi, Mohammad Ghazzai Saad Ali Al-Mutairi and Abderrahman Saad Marzouq Al-Otaibi. Some 605 Kuwaitis and third-country nationals were among listed as POWs or missing for 13 years after the Iraqi occupation of Kuwait in 1990.
Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah on Monday sent cables of condolences to families of the Kuwaiti prisoners who were killed by the defunct Iraqi regime and whose remains were located in Iraq and verified by experts.
Sheikh Sabah addressed the condolences to the families of Taleb Amin Jasim Salih, Fahad Slaiman Aswad Al-Enizi, Hamad Mohammad Ghnaim Al-Ajmi, Naser Ayedh Dheiran Al-Utaibi and Mesfir Mhanna Mesfir Al-Hayyani.
The Prime Minister praised the martyrs who were honored with martyrdom in defense of the homeland. He also sent a similar cable to the family of a Saudi prisoner, Fahad Aqeel Rakan Al-Dhifeiri, whose remains were also authenticized.
