Re: Iraq Claims 2 More US POWs, Shows Them on TV
From: POW-MIA InterNetwork
Date: March 24, 2003
What appears to be 2 more American POWs have been shown on Abu Dhabi television. They are represented as two pilots from a downed Apache helicopter incident earlier today (Monday 24 MAR 03) in the region of Karbala, outside of Baghdad, Iraq.
The 2 men were acknowledged earlier by Combined Forces Commander Army General Tommy Franks as MIA, during a briefing in Qatar.
The briefing comments came after Iraqi officals claimed to have captured 2 pilots and escorted journalists to a site with an Apache helicopter (undamaged), 2 flight helmets and other effects. Iraqi authorities stated the 2 pilots would be shown on TV later in the day.
If these 2 men are acknowledged as US POWs, the total number of known POWs will be 7, MIAs 1 and Unaccounted-For 6.
