"Rights groups deliver war remains to USFK
Human remains believed to be from an American serviceman killed during the Korean War were handed over yesterday to the U.S. military in Seoul by South Korean human rights groups.
The Citizens' Coalition for Human Rights of Abductees and North Korean Refugees said last month that it had obtained the remains and a dog tag from a North Korean defector.
Kim Young-kyu, a United States Forces Korea spokesman said, "We have received some pieces of bone and a dog tag. We will send them to the Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command in Hawaii for identification."
The activists criticized the South Korean government for halting efforts to repatriate people kidnapped by the North. They praised the U.S. policy for seeking to recover the remains of servicemen listed as missing in the North.
