MUSCATINE — A conference on World War II–era prisoners of war held in the Midwest is set for Oct. 6 to 9 at Muscatine Community College and Muscatine Art Center.

Among the speakers are Norbert Haase, a Dresden museum director who wrote "We Were Each Other's Prisoners," Heino Erichsen, a onetime German soldier and POW, Howard Hong, a retired professor of philosophy and Mike Waters, a Texas A&M anthropology professor who heads POW camp excavations.

On Tuesday evening film makers will show and discuss their films.

The art center will host the exhibit "The Third Reich in Iowa: German POW Art and Artifacts." "
