Re: Giving Congress A Wake-Up Call

Over the past week since the Speicher news has come out, Congress, for the most part, has been asleep.
Calling a Congressional local or DC number, one will generally find that their staff doesn't have a clue, puts you on long-term hold (read: IGNORE) or can't get you off the phone fast enough.
Considering Congress was supposed to be briefed on the case, one would think their staffs would be briefed.
NY Senator Clinton's DC office barely tolerated the phone call. Took no name or address (a constituent's)
NY Senator Schumer's NY office was hopelessly lost and disconnected the call. The DC office was sharp but couldn't take the message so they schlepped us off to a voice-mail system. A call-back was promised.
Representative Carolyn McCarthy's office was pleasant and took the call but had no idea who Speicher is, what a POW or MIA was but wanted to know where to get in touch with us (presumably when they figured it out.) They get points for trying.

Any Congressional Contact info we get we'll post in the InterNetwork section. Any Congress folks who have something to say can send it our way as well.
This from the NAF Bits 'N' Pieces - "The National Alliance of Families is declaring the week of March 17th - 23rd "Bring Scott Speicher Home Week." We ask that next week everyone who reads this makes a call to the White House at 202-456-1414 and demand that Gulf War POW/MIA Scott Speicher be brought home!"
