Re: Being A POW Is A Game To Next Generation

Date: April 21, 2001

"Prisoner of War Game in Development

Codemasters has announced Prisoner of War, an action adventure game that has the player trying to escape POW camps. The game is played from a third person perspective and the emphasis will be on stealth and cunning.

Developer Wide Games is strongly emphasizing the use of a dramatic, dynamic soundtrack that changes in realtime according to the player's actions. In fact, they've gone as far as to hire a composer with a background in composing movie soundtracks. The game is expected to be a showcase for Microsoft's DirectMusic, which allows programmers and composers to make subtle or dramatic shifts in the music on the fly. Due this winter, Prisoner of War will be shipping for the PC, the PS2 and other unnamed next generation consoles. The console versions will include versions of the same dynamic music effects found in the PC version."
