Re: Alliance Response
Date: July 14, 2000
National Alliance of Families
For the Return of America's Missing Servicemen
World War II - Korean War - Cold War - Vietnam - Gulf War
No Good Deed Goes Unpunished
Within the next few days, you may hear stories that the National Alliance of Families made a major purchase of stock in APBNews.com, an Internet company. One of the officers of this Internet company is Mark Sauter.
THIS STORY IS FALSE.
Here are the facts: Last year Mark Sauter made a donation of 18,000 + shares in his company APBNews.com. This was a personal donation made from his personal shares in his company. Mark asked that the donation be kept confidential. We honored that request.
The shares offered the potential for great value, in the future. However, as of this date the Alliance has not realized any funds as a result of Mark's donation.
Unfortunately, APBNews.com has suffered severe financial setbacks, leading to inaccurate stories on the Internet. One such story, appears on Netslave. This story, posted July 7th, contains totally false and misleading statements regarding the National Alliance of Families and the POW/MIA issue in general.

The site invites comments and we urge you all to visit the site, read the article, and post your clear, factual and concise comments.
On a personal note: Mark Sauter is the best friend our POW/MIA's and their families could every have. Mark had hoped his donation would allow the Alliance to fund projects we had only dreamed of. Now, his unselfish devotion to our POW/MIAs has now put him in a difficult position and cast doubt on his professional ethics. Having known Mark Sauter for more than 10 years, we can say, he is without a doubt, one of the most ethical people there is.
Any family member or activist who has ever been helped by Mark Sauter, and there are many, need to visit this site, post a comment, and correct the false and misleading impression the author created regarding the POW/MIA issue, Mark Sauter and the National Alliance of Families.
Sadly, no good deed goes unpunished.
