Re: Empie State Building Chickens Out on 'Going Yellow'
Date: September 20, 1998
The Empire State Building, a traditional landmark in NYC, NY, regulalrly sets its lighting display to reflect holidays and other events. Throughout the city one can see it's red and green lights for Christmas, and Red, White and Blue on the Fourth of July...
and for the past six years, illuminated a golden yellow for the 3 day period encompassing National POW-MIA Recognition Day.
Steve Golding of the PoW/MIA Forum informs us that although the ESB management had acknowledged a planned yellow light display this year, and the lights were set up, at the last minute someone decided it was a 'no go' and chickened out on going yellow for POW-MIA Day 1998 and failed to honor their word or support of Prisoners of War and Missing In Action.
