MEDIA ADVISORY
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
MEMORIAL SERVICE
What: Memorial service in remembrance of the Marines and Sailor who died in Thursdays CH-46 mishap.
When: The service will be held Monday, December 20 starting at 1 p.m.
Where: The service will take place at the Marine Corps Base Theater.
MEDIA OPPORTUNITIES:
1) Video and photos of the Memorial Service.
2) Video and photos of a display honoring the Marines and Sailor.
INSTRUCTIONS:
1) Media outlets interested in covering this event should RSVP no later than 2 p.m. tomorrow (Thursday December 16, 1999).
2) Media will meet at Camp Pendletons Main Gate at 10:30 a.m. (I-5/Camp Pendleton exit in Oceanside). The early time is necessary to allow for increased traffic and for an appropriate amount of time for set-up.
3) Media outlets may depart the base without an escort, but must depart the base directly without stopping enroute.
Note: The Force Recon Association established the "15th MEU Memorial Fund" to provide support and financial assistance to the families of the Marines and Sailor who died in this tragic accident. All funds collected will be distributed to surviving family members. Donations should be made payable to the "15th MEU Memorial Fund" and addressed to:
