Re: North Korea Returns Remains
Date: November 03, 1998
News Reports state that several sets of remains, believed to be American, will be repatriated to the US this week. The remains were excavated by a joint US-NK team.
The UN Military Command will receive the remains at the border town of Panmunjom which is the line of demarcation between the still hotile North and South Koreas.
Although this marks the third return this year, the condition of the remains and lack of cooperation on behalf of North Korea all these 45 years, generally precludes identification, with only a handful of Korean War POW-MIAs identified.
The US and NK are focusing on excavations and the issue of live Americans seems to be a non-existant one.
