Colonel Charles Shelton Memorial

On September 18, 1999, at 6 PM, The Colonel Charles E. Shelton Freedom Memorial will be dedicated in a city park on the banks of the Ohio River in Shelton's hometown of Owensboro, Kentucky.

The $250,000 black granite and limestone memorial will also honor all the US military men and women who have been prisoners of war or missing in action. Everyone is invited to join us.

The location in Owensboro is in Smothers Park on Veterans Boulevard on the banks of the Ohio River Downtown. The Memorial is next to the RiverPark Center and near the foot of the Bridge. Owensboro is located on the Ohio River between Louisville, Kentucky and Evansville, Indiana.

From either Louisville or Evansville take Interstate 64 and exit onto U-S 231, From Nashville, take I-65 north to Bowling Green, Kentuky, take Natcher Parkway exit to Owensboro.
