Re: Campaign Finance Revisited
Date: June 20, 1998
Although the name LIPPO hasn't been murmured for many months, the issue of influence and campaign contributions has popped up again, this time with allegations that have been long suspected and verbalized within the issue community.
Johnny Chung has stated that DNC officials solicited contributions from him even though they had voiced suspicions that Chung was an active conduit for Chinese business executives wishing to make illegal campaign contributions. A specific request for funding was made during April 1995... think back on that time period folks.
Chung's admission comes as the result of a plea bargain with the Justice Department.
