Re: Was US Tipped Off on Kosovo POWs?
Date: April 14, 1999
On April 8th, columnist/commentator Robert Novak published a startling article in the NY Post. Titled, 'The Mystery of the US, POWs' it details some iinsider information that may raise more than serious questions about intelligence, security and the safety of US personnel.
According to Novak -
A national security source contacted Novak on 23 MAR 99 - one full day BEFORE the US-led NATO bombing began.
The contact stated that there was secret US intel on the Serb force's desire to abduct US personnel in Macedonia.
On 31 MAR 99 - three US soldiers WERE abducted from the Kosovo-Macedonia border.
Novak continues - "...but the most haunting question is unasked: Why was the intelligence report on the danger of abduction ignored?" and, "The secret intelligence was known to NATO staff officers in Brussels, demolishing the possible explanation that the warning was not passed to the Pentagon by the State Department."
It is more than troubling when we consider that the three men who were captured were NOT part of a NATO or UN mission. They had completed their UN peacekeeping mission in February and were under the control of the US Army and the Department of Defense. And now we find allegations of advance knowledge that US personnel in that very same border region were targeted for abduction.
What is going on here?
