Re: Yugoslavia Promises Humane Treatment of US POWs

Date: April 01, 1999

Yugoslav Deputy PM, Vuk Draskovic, has stated that the three captive US soldiers, "will be treated in the most, best humane way."

Draskovic continued, "There is no doubt about the fact that three American soldiers were captured deep in Serbian territory. Secondly, I would like to tell you they will be treated in the most, best humane way."

"I am sending all the best wishes to the families of the captured soldiers and they must know that for Serbs, a captured enemy is not an enemy. They have absolutely no reason to be worried about them."

In response to questions about whether the men would be held accountable or abused after their capture, Draskovic resoponded, "There is no reason to be worried about them."
