Long held as the foundation for the rules of war and treatment of personnel, POWs and civilians, the Geneva Conventions may well be the most ignored document in the world.

Unless true humantarianism interjects itself, the only protection that victims of war and conflict have are the Conventions. Perhaps the most touted and flouted rules of war in existence. But now the ICRC (International Red Cross Committee) has committed to a public awareness campign that will produce star-studded endoresement of the Conventions in a media campaign targeted at educating the world, especially the youths and those most at risk.

Although endorsed by virtually all nations, the Conventions are deemed outdated in light of contemporary warfare, guerilla warfare, genocides, rebel uprisings and civil wars. By targeting those most 'at risk', the ICRC hopes to educate rebels and warriors.
