Re: Arlington Burials Restricted

New legislation will severely restrict the qualifictaions for burial at Arlington National Cemetery. The bill is H.R. 70.
Fueled by abuses of privilege and waivers over the years and unclear guidelines, the new measure would insure that only those mose deserving would qualify for burial. Presidential waivers would come to a halt and Congressional waivers permitted on an individual case basis. Spouses and immediate family member burial with an eligible veteran waiver requirements are dropped. Those qualifying are -
Active Duty KIAMilitary RetireesMedal of Honor recipientsFormer POWsThe President and former Presidents Those no longer eligibile by virtue of some military service -
Congressional MembersThe Vice PresidentCabinet SecretariesRanking Diplomats
