Re: North Korea and Perot
Date: October 02, 1997
AP is reporting tha North Korea approached the US and requested that Ross Perot become involved in the lingering POW-MIA questions from the 'Forgotten War.'
Through third and fourth party individuals, North Korea reportedly asked to work privately through Perot. The man who was allegedly a go-between, Robert Egan, is quoted as saying, "Those men (POWs) were put on the table for negotiating purposes." He said Han Song Ryol, a diplomat at North Korea's U.N. mission, told him that some Americans in his country are "survivors of the Korean War."
Accordingly to Egan, the Clinton Badministration nixed the proposal and, in his opinion, by not persuing the offer lost a chance to learn more about the men who never came back from North Korea.
