Re: Hearings Update

Date: July 08, 1997

John Huang was a significant topic during testimony:

Richard Sullivan, former finance director for the DNC testified that -

The White House, from Clinton on down, pushed for Huang's hiring.
Some DNC personnel were concerned that Huang didn't 'know the rules' and was inexperienced in fund-raising. (it is apparent he caught on quickly)

Huang supposedly was instructed by counsel, Joseph Sandler, about foreign money prohibitions. However, Sandler recalls no such training.

Whitewash House Aide, Mark Middleton, (the name keeps coming up!); Hillary Clinton law partner and Lippo business partner, Joe Giror, of Little Rock; and millionaire-Clinton backer, Truman Arnold, began making the case for a Huang hiring in 1995. Then, deputy chief of staff, Harold Ickes, iced the cake with phone calls to the DNC finance chairman.

Ultimately, folks at DNC heard that the Prersident himself wanted Huang for the job and within 5 days of Clinton contacting DNC finance chief, Huang is interviewed and hired.

On a technical note, as expected the Just-Us Department has determined that Huang should not entitled to immunity in exchange for his testimony. Although many tout the Justice decision as a means to leave the door open for future prosecution, it is clearly a means to prevent Huang from coming forward and spilling the proverbial beans on this Badministration.

Sullivan returns to the witness chair, Thursday, 09 July.
