Re: Trade Agreements Announced

Date: June 27, 1997

The new ambassador to Vietnam has scarcely had a chance to unpack and Secretary of State Madeleine Albright has announced trade agreements between the US and Communist Vietnam.

The whirlwind schedule included... an intellectual property (copyright) agreement; an announcement that Communist Vietnam now qualifies for US assistance for firms hoping to land contracts in Vietnam; there was discussion of refugees and human rights; the announcement that the US is building a Consulate and... oh yes, as an after thought, news of a briefing at the US MIA Office... whatever happened to POWS?
