Re: Door Opens For Nung

Date: June 12, 1997

Twenty years after the end of the longest war, 31 Nung commandos have finally received permission to enter the country they so faithfully served.

After living for years in horrific conditions in refugee camps, the men, assisted by their US Special Forces colleagues, are ready to come to the US.

Abandoned in the chaos of North Vietnam's assault on Saigon, the Nung were left in the dust... wondering and waiting, eventually making their way to a detention facility in Hong Kong.

It was the efforts of 1,000 Special Forces veterans that brought their plight to light and will eventually bring them to their new home.

The Nung are yet another example of the US proclivity to abandon those who serve it so honorably... just like our POWs and MIAs.
