Re: DPMO, N. Korea To Meet in NY

Date: May 3, 1997

DPMO and North Korean officials are slated to begin a week of POW-MIA meetings in New York.

This is the fourth such meeting between the two estranged nations.

The North Koreans have apparently agreed to meet with specific family members of Last Known Alive Korean POWs and Missing. The North Korean delegation would be led by Ambassador Kim Byong-Hong, the US side by James Wold.

Among issues to be discussed are Live Sighting reports of Americans in North Korea and joint excavations.
