Re: Senate To Consider Immunity In Lippo Scandal

Date: June 11, 1997

Out of mind out of sight? Apparently not. The arduous process of figuring out who gave what to whom, where and when, drags on.

The Senate Governmental Affairs Committee is slated to vote on whether to provide immunity to about a dozen or so 'low-level' players in the Lippo-Huang-Vietnam-China-Whitewash House scandal.

The names of those in question were not made public, but would be handed to Committee members shortly. News reports state that the individuals had said that without immunity, theywould not testify.

Up until recently, those on the list of suspects have either taken the fifth, fled to Asia or stalled and stonewalled.
