Communication

From AII POW-MIA

Over the past few weeks we have noticed an alarming level of poor or no information coming from our elected and appointed officials with respect to POWs and MIAs.

Although they state that communication is a necessary aspect of their mission, DPMO failed to post the August 13th update. Not that we can expect anything earth-shattering, it would have been nice had they taken the 5 minutes it requires to code and upload a page to their server. There are a lot of Korean War-Cold War families out here who would have appeciated the info on the remains return and archival search.

DPMO has not offered any reports or summaries on the recent Russian mission and several year study that saw their spokespeople scrambling to proclaim to the media... there is no evidence of POWs being taken to the former USSR. So where is their evidence that there is no evidence? All we see is evidence that men WERE taken to third-party nations and not returned.

We have been contacted, more times than we can count, by various folks in the ACTIVE DUTY MILITARY and GS level employees... all branches at varying bases, posts, depots and offices... who are asking US when National POW-MIA Recognition Day is. It seems that even their PAO's haven't a clue and there is no evidence that any directives from DPMO or DOD have been provided. So, we now have a great group of folks in uniform, who will not forget their brothers and sisters who are POWs and MIAs, who wish to plan ceremonies, observances and programs and who do they have to go to? POW-MIA activists because the USG-DOD can't or won't tell them.
Does the USG care so very little for the men and women who served this nation, were killed and unrecovered, went missing, were last seen alive or were captured and not repatriated that they cannot even tell their service people when the National observation day is?

Apparently so.
